Okay...

So let's get started...
My name is Shilini Tapsy and I'm currently a student at the University of the West Indies, the at St. Augustine Campus, in the lovely Trinidad and Tobago, pursuing a degree in Environmental Science and Sustainable Technology. I was always a kid who loved science, and during CAPE I discovered a passion for Environmental Science and the environment. During my studies I realized that the actions of humans greatly affect the environment, in most cases negatively, and I decided that I wanted to make a difference, and do what I could to protect the environment and its wildlife, and help others use it in sustainable manner.
Being a citizen of  a twin island state, it is only obvious that I grew up being around its beautiful beaches. This has lead to my love for the ocean, and to a greater extent, of the ecosystems within it. However, over the years a number of these biomes have been destroyed, in order to facilitate the development of the coasts of the country, which has greatly distressed me. This blog would aim to highlight the advantages of the marine ecosystems including wetlands, coral reefs and sea grass beds and the benefits of preserving them, and also the  consequences of destroying them.
